A compact operator system connecting the surgical handpiece, foot controls, motor drive, and touchscreen interface.

Microdebrider handpiece, foot switch, and controller components
Qt operator interface designed for the microdebrider controller

Project overview

Developed with a biomedical startup, the prototype integrates a Raspberry Pi 3B+, PiCAN interface, Pololu motor driver, Mean Well power supplies, and Maxon motors and drives in a custom controller.

I built the C++/Qt control software on Linux, designed the electronics enclosure in SolidWorks, and created custom PCBs in EasyEDA. The design work referenced CiA 402 and the IEC 62304, IEC 60601, and IEC 61508 standards.
